The Smouse House

Grey will be 7 months old tomorrow, and oh boy, how time flies! He is the happiest, most wonderful child in the world. We are head over heals in love and cherish this boy to pieces.

We stopped swaddling this month, and it was an easier transition than anticipated. He generally sleeps through the night and has started sleeping on his stomach. He is eating three times a day and really likes apples and pears right now. Bananas have gone from the top of the list to the bottom. We were told he could get his first tooth at 6 months old, and like clockwork, he did. What we didn’t expect were the 5 teeth that followed in the same week! He has 6 teeth and looks like a little shark!

Ella, my precious angel, passed away this afternoon. She was born with a congenital heart defect. When she was given to me by my friend, Jan Shon, I was told she might live 6 months… or 6 years. She lived a wonderful 8 & 1/2 years. She lived a healthy life with minimal medications or complications. Today was like any other day. I walked into our bedroom around 4 this afternoon and she was sprawled out on the floor. She looked like she was just stretching. When I went to pick her up, it was apparent something was wrong. The vet believes she threw a blood clot. The decision was obvious.

Ella was the best cat anyone could dream for. I know Hudson was waiting for her on rainbow bridge. They were inseparable.

I am so very thankful I was able to be with her in the end. For eight years I have lived in fear of coming home to find her already gone. For such a sad event, it was the best case scenario… I was home, Chris happened to be home and could stay with Grey, it was during business hours, she didn’t have prolonged suffering, and I was able to kiss her goodbye. My sweet Belle Belle, Mellie, you will be loved forever. Godspeed sweet angel.

Ella Noel

9/16/2003 – 9/14/2012

How time flies. Not only is it 2012, but it’s already February!  Grey will be 5 months old on the 16th, and he is just the sweetest little boy in the world. He is very happy and smiles/laughs all the time. He has decided that he loves cats (like his mommy), and his favorite thing to do is grab a handful of fur and pull as hard as possible. Ella is a real trooper and just purrs. Ramsay, on the other hand, is still a bit leery. Grey’s all time favorite thing is when Daddy throws him up in the air.

I (Christy) had another medical setback this past month. After 2 months of complaining about pain to my OBGYN, I went into surgery January 16th to remove a large abscess under my c-section scar. It has to stay open for healing, and. I have to go to wound care 3x/week to have it unpacked/cleaned/repacked. Honestly, it’s awful. I look forward to a speedy recovery and the ability to focus 100% on my precious son.
